- The Schwalbe Ultremo R.1 is constructed from new high technology materials utilising new production techniques which combine to reduce weight and rolling resistance.
The tyre offers puncture protection using High Density Guard which offers puncture resistance whilst keeping weight low. Rolling resistance is kept low using Radial Technology and a flexible fabric coating which reduces rolling resistance by a further 10%. In addition the tyre retains it's shape better and internal rolling resistance and friction are reduced.
The Schwalbe Ultremo R.1 is available in a range of eye catching colours.
Note: Coloured rubber compounds are excellent, but black provides the very best performance in terms of grip and durability.
The Schwalbe Ultremeo R.1 Tyre is available in the following variations:

Manufacturer Schwalbe Weight (oz) 6oz for 700 x 23C Weight (g) 180g for 700 x 25C Tread HS380 Puncture Resistant Yes Compound Triple Nano EPI 127 Type Folding Schwalbe Product Line Evolution Schwalbe Technology Triple Nano Compound
Schwalbe have improved this compound by using a completely revised nano-sized polymer base and filters. The filter particles that were previously 200 nanometers in size now measure 10 naonmeters (or 0.00000001 M). This reduction has 2 advantages. The internal friction within the rubber is reduced, lowering rolling resistance. More smaller particles have much more surface area than fewer large ones meaning that the contact area is greater resulting in improved grip. Under this lies a base compound which is light and easy rolling with grippy tyre shoulders.
EPI
Ends per inch. This is theunit for the density of the carcass fabric. The higher the EPI then the higer is the density and so the quality of the tyre
ETRTO
European Tyre and Rim Technical Organization. This is the organization that sets the standards for tyre sizes and rim sizes. For example the ETRO size 37/622 means that the tyre is 37mm wide with a 622mm diameter bead.
Puncture Protection High Density Guard is a unique puncture protection technology unique to Schwalbe. It has been jointly developed in co-operation with the US company Warwick Mills who are a specialist maker of high density fabrics holding 14 international patents for it's weaving technology. No other bicycle protection belt is as densely woven and this technology makes it possible to make a tyre that is both light in weight and has an extraordinary level of puncture protection. Schwalbe Product Lines Schwalbe have 3 categories of tyre performance
Evolution
Evolution is the process of continual improvement. Schwalbe's philosophy is that even the best can be improved upon step by step. This process of evolution has led to Schwalbe's reputation for innovation and the creation of quality and unique products.
Performance
Excellent and reliable quality for intensive use and outstanding performance.
Active
Reliable and affordable brand quality. All Schwalbe tyres use a minimum of a 50 EPI carcass.
